If only this furniture could talk, what tales would it tell? A.R. Gurney’s touching comedy weaves together dozens of lives that intertwine over multiple generations around an everyday ordinary dining room table. Birthday parties, family meals, heartbreaks and first loves, children growing up and their homecoming – the pattern of life’s everyday milestones are mapped out around that vanishing family institution – the Dining Room.

“We’re thrilled to bring Soulpepper’s production to Oakville,” said Robin Howarth, theatre manager, Oakville Centre. “One of my goals is to provide high quality entertainment to Oakville residents and this production will do just that, by bringing some of the best in Canadian theatre right here to our local stage”.

The production features celebrated actors Derek Boyes, Courtney Ch'ng Lancaster, Jeff Lillico, Diego Matamoros, Brenda Robins and Sarah Wilson. The production team includes director Joseph Ziegler, set and costume designer Robin Fisher, lighting designer Ken MacKenzie, sound designer Richard Feren, assistant director Marc Bondy, stage manager Darragh Parsons, and assistant stage manager Emily Mewett.

“I remember Oakville so fondly for it was a production of “As You Like It” which I directed in your glorious Coronation Park, that led to the founding of Soulpepper in 1998. From its earliest beginnings, Soulpepper has implemented new ways of sharing its stories with its community. While our artistic home in Toronto remains a bustling centre of dynamic programming, we are thankful to be so graciously welcomed to Oakville by the Performing Arts Centre, as part of this special tour of A. R. Gurney’s timeless comedy of manners. We are thrilled to share “The Dining Room” with you, in your town,” said Albert Schultz, Artistic Director, Soulpepper.

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts presents Soulpepper's production of A.R. Gurney’s hilarious comedy The Dining Room directed by Joseph Ziegler. Theatre fans won’t want to miss this renowned production when it comes to Oakville on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 8 p.m.. Tickets are available on-line or a the box office.
