It is hard to believe but November 2017 is just around the corner. Maybe it has something to do with the beautiful weather we are experiencing this October, or the rain drenched spring and fall that did so much damage to our waterfront park.
The performance to November 2017 look to provide us with another wonderful month of live entertainment for every age group, with the end of the month starting to incorporate Holiday themed performances.
Here is what is coming to the Oakville Centre for November 2017:
Fatty Legs

The true story of an Indigenous girl’s resilience at Residential School.
Fatty Legs, which mixes song, storytelling and dance, is based on the children’s book of the same name by Margaret Pokiak-Fenton and Christy Jordan-Fenton. The production uses choral soundscapes, contemporary dance and text from the book to tell the true story of Olemaun, an eight-year-old Inuit child who left her home in the High Arctic to attend a residential school in Aklavik. Olemaun was tormented by her caregivers, forced to cut her hair, forsake her language and take the English name Margaret. Fatty Legs brings to light the suffering created by residential schools while celebrating the deep strength of a young child who refused to be broken by her experiences.
This performance takes place on Thursday, 2 November 2017 at 8:00 PM in the main auditorium. It is present by Xara Choral Theatre. Tickets: PWYC

In Conversation WIith... Alexander McCall Smith
Author of the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series talks about his latest book The House of Unexpected Sisters.
The conversation takes place on Tuesday, 7 November 2017 at 7:00 PM at Town Hall's Atrium. It is presented by the Oakville Centre, Oakville Public Library and Different Drummer Books. Tickets: $38
Jenny's House Of Joy
By Norm Foster, Jenny's House of Joy is a brothel in Kansaa in the 1880s. Jenny has too many customers and now one of her "employees" has run off to get married. She needs a new girl immedately before the next cattle drive moves throught Baxter. Along comes a new woman who thinks she has what it takes to work at Jenny's - she is pretty, sexy and smart...perhaps a bit too smart....and a bit too ambitious.
Performance of this play will take place from November 8 to 11th at 8:00 PM and Sunday, 12 November 2017 at 2:00 PM. It will take place in the main auditorium and is presented by the Oakville Players: Tickets: $30
Dirty Dishes
Bringing a shine to every space they fill with their beautiful blend of country-bluegrass-gospel sound and extraordinary energy, the Dishes have spent the last five years (often backed by their rhythm section The Plate Rails) breaking hearts and soothing souls at clubs, fairs, festivals and events throughout Canada.
This will be performed on Saturday, 11 November 2017 at 8:30 PM in the Studio Theatre. Tickets: $44
Talk with Jeanne Beker
Join us for a talk with Canadian fashion icon Jeanne Beker. The former host of Fashion Television will discuss her remarkable career in fashion and in the media, as well as her upcoming projects. Beker's talk is held alongside Tamara Henderson's exhibition at Oakville Galleries, Season's End: Out of Body, which sees Henderson stage an elaborate mise-en-scène of beguiling sewn sculptures, hand-dyed textiles and other found and recycled materials gathered during her extensive travels.
There will be a Q&A session following the talk. The talk will take place on Tuesday, 14 November 2017 at 7:00 PM in the main auditorium. It is presented in association with Oakville Galleries. Tickets: $20
Buffy Sainte-Marie
Buffy Sainte-Marie’s bold new album, Power in the Blood, begins where it all started more than 50 years ago, with a contemporary version of It’s My Way, the title track of her 1964 debut.
Perhaps you know Sainte-Marie from her 1960s protest anthems (Universal Soldier), open-hearted love songs (Until It’s Time for You to Go), incendiary powwow rock (Starwalker), or the juggernaut pop hit Up Where We Belong, which Sainte-Marie co-wrote and Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes sang for the soundtrack to An Officer and a Gentleman. One of her earliest classics, Cod’ine, a harrowing account of addiction well ahead of its time, was covered by everyone from Janis Joplin to Donovan to Courtney Love. Whatever the case, every song and every era has revealed new and distinctive shades of an artist revered for her pioneering and chameleon ways.

Robin Duke: I've Been Hacked
Robin Duke, of Saturday Night Live, SCTV, and Women Fully Clothed fame, takes a humorous and poignant look at life before, during and after a breast cancer diagnosis.
This performance will take place on Saturday, 18 November 2017 at 8:00 PM in the main auditorium. Tickets: $50
Crescendo
Crescendo: A musical matinee in support of OTMH is a benefit concert showcasing music from the Oakville Hospital for the Oakville community.
The event will include performers of all ages with all styles of music, presented by volunteers, staff and physicians from the Oakville Hospital.
This performance will take place on Sunday, 19 November 2017 at 2:00 PM in the main auditorium. It is presented by the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Approximate running time is 2.5 hours. Tickets: $15
Most of the November 2017 performances will take place in the main auditorium. Tickets for November 2017 can be purchased at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Art's Box office at 146 Navy Street. Box Office hours are from Monday to Friday: 10 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday from 1:00 PM to performance time. Tickets are also available online.
