Bronte's "Lake Walk" Launch

Bronte’s “Lake Walk” begins Thursday May 7th 2015 from 6-10pm and in the future will take place on the first Thursday of the month in Bronte Village, Oakville; June 4th, July 2nd and August 6th. Inspired by Hamilton’s Art Crawl, The Lake Walk is a free form night time cultural event coordinated by the business owners of Bronte Village, The Bronte BIA, the Oakville Arts Council and the Oakville Art Society. It’s a night of art, food, music and culture as well as special promotions and activities from participating Bronte area businesses. It should be a night to remember.

Nearly 50 of Bronte Village’s businesses are participating by staying open to 10pm or beyond including many non-art related businesses who are offering pop up special performance events, activities, promotions. Evening entertainment caters to a “plugged-in” crowd as local businesses extend their hours for a music and art crawl. During the event, artists work “en plein air,” creating paintings outdoors. Musicians will perform at different venues. Updates will be posted on the ‘Events’ page on the Bronte BIA website.

Claudia Russo, owner of Ti Vesto Boutique Italy, encourages you to come and participate in the Bronte Lake Walk ... “Because it's fun!” She says, “Getting together to celebrate is important. We celebrate life when we live with passion. The Lake walk was created by passionate people seeking to expand the vibrant cultural palette of Bronte and to share different cultures, sites, flavours and sounds. So come and join the fun!”

Linda Leatherdale lives in Bronte Village, participates on the Bronte Village BIA Board and a strong supporter of Bronte Village, Oakville says that, “Bronte Village is a designated tourist area in Oakville, sitting on the shores of Lake Ontario. The mission of the Lake Walk is to promote local artists and performers with a highly anticipated and recurring, free event with free parking ...where families can enjoy – and be proud of – their community”.

Indira Roy Choudhury of Trias Gallery ay 11 Bronte Road Unit 29 Lakeshore Road took a lead role with some other local businesses to get the Lake Walk going. Indira says, “Why call it Lake Walk”? – “It is not about just taking a walk along the Lake. It is about taking a walk around the Village that sits on the shore of our amazing Lake Ontario! - It includes the Lake Ontario, Bronte Rd., Lakeshore Rd. and all in between – high quality businesses – with owners who have chosen to locate here in Bronte Village Oakville for business and to live here. We want to showcase this beautiful lakeside destination some also call HOME!”
