Art from the Heart is an exhibition by artists who have experienced adversity and challenge and have incorporated this into their artistic practice, inspiration and presentation.

Every Monday, six inspired artists from Community Living Oakville arrive at Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre and within two hours they have produced their personal masterpieces with laughter and joy. To them, art is a tremendous source of pleasure. This is our favourite show. Colour sings throughout the gallery.

This will be the 5th annual exhibit which is typically a collaboration between Joshua Creek, Community Living Oakville and Creative Village Studio in Toronto. However for the first time, work is being shared by artists from four Community Living associations: Oakville, Brampton/Caledon, Scarborough, and the Creative Village Studio/Community Living Toronto.

The show will also feature digital illustrations by autistic artist Tsochoy Go. Tsochoy began attending art classes at Joshua Creek five years ago and has continued developing his technique and education under the tutelage of Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre team ever since. Over the past year, Tsochoy has learned how to use Photoshop, which he has used to create a set of dynamic futuristic illustrations for two short stories that I wrote, with the hopes of having them published in the near future.

This show is about sharing, awareness, artistic expression and courage. There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than witnessing the happiness of those who are able to share their work, which is hung on the wall for others to enjoy.

The exhibition is open to the public and begins with an opening tea party on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2 - 5pm. Local dignitaries are being invited to help celebrate the accomplishments of the artists. In keeping with the theme, the gallery will host a special Valentine's Day party on February 14th with games, crafts and activities for all ages. Closing date of the exhibition is February 21, 2016. Regular gallery hours are Tues-Sun 1-4pm, or by appointment by calling 905-257-4730 or emailing [email protected].
