Oakville Hydro has issued a warning regarding a phone scam that is said to be circulating in Oakville.
According to a statement from Oakville Hydro on X (formerly Twitter), "Customers are receiving telephone calls where the fraudster demands IMMEDIATE payment to avoid disconnection. This is NOT Oakville Hydro."
Oakville Hydro says they do not threaten immediate disconnection and they want customers to be aware of the scam should they encounter it.
Customers are urged to never make a payment for a charge that is not listed on their most recent Oakville Hydro electricity bill.
Hydro asks anyone who receives a suspicious phone call, text or letter to contact an Oakville Hydro Customer Service Representative as soon as possible to verify your account information at 905-825-9400 (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
