Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) has launched the Best Foot Forward (BFF) initiative to enhance mental health care in Oakville, aiming for $2.5 million with 70% already raised.

With mental health challenges affecting one in five Canadians annually and with hospital services strained, OTMH is calling for community support to address this pressing issue.

The BFF initiative seeks to raise $2.5 million to enhance mental health programs and services at OTMH. The Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) says these funds will enable faster and more equitable access to mental health care for all members of the community.

"Each dollar you contribute brings us closer to this target, making a tangible difference in countless lives," states the initiative's website.

"With your help, we can provide faster, more equitable access to mental health care for everyone in our community. It’s about offering hope and healing, closer to home, for each person who needs it."

Upon reaching the $1.75 million goal, donors June and Ian Cockwell will contribute an additional $750,000 to the cause.

At the moment, the campaign has already surpassed $1.74 million in donations.
