ARTHOUSE FESTIVAL SERIES PRESENTS SALUTE TO YOUTH

9-year old Canadian piano prodigy Leonid Nediak performs Wednesday August 14th – 7:30 pm – St. Aidan’s Anglican Church.

In early July, young Leonid Nediak returned home to Kingston with the Grand Prize from the 2013 Canadian Music Competition National Finals in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He and two other Ontario youth were three of the five Grand Prize winners from across Canada. 240 students competed over the two week period.

ArtHouse Festival Series is very proud to present two of these Grand Prize Winners, Leonid Nediak and Alex Volkof, plus Oakville's 2013 CMC Finalist Scott Downey and 2007 and 2011 Grand Prize Winner Nicole Li.

In fact, Leonid's competition piece; Chopin's Concerto #1, brought tears to the eyes of all five judges who awarded him with a mark of 99%. *Judge Louise Bessette said at times during the performance she closed her eyes and couldn’t tell if it was a child or an adult playing the piece.

Everybody got very emotional because the music was so pure and so touching, and after he finished playing, everyone looked at each other and everybody was crying. The third Grand Prize Winner is Oakville's Ji Soo Choi who is unable to attend as she is off to the Banff School for six weeks - but stay tuned, ArtHouse hope to have her join us at a future event.

Tickets are just $20 and are available at arthouseonline.org or contact ArtHouse at 905-467-8551

Proceeds will go towards ArtHouse which offers cost-free Arts Programs to children aged 7-11. This year ArtHouse will serve over 500 children in Oakville and Burlington with 30 programs in 15 locations.

*With sincere thanks to the Kingston Whig-Standard
