Following an extensive national search, Paul Boissonneault has been appointed as Oakville’s deputy fire chief of operations. He assumes his new role starting Monday, October 24, 2016.
“On behalf of Council, I’d like to welcome Mr. Boissonneault to the Town of Oakville. We’re looking forward to working with him, and we’re very confident that his skills and experience will contribute to the ongoing success of our fire department,” said Mayor Rob Burton.
Mr. Boissonneault is a seasoned fire services professional. For the past seven years he served as fire chief and community emergency management coordinator with the County of Brant where he managed all facets of the department’s operations, budget development, human resources management and labour relations. He was responsible for eight fire stations, fire communications, emergency management and a department of approximately 200 personnel.
His previous positions include fire chief and community emergency management coordinator for the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio and deputy platoon chief with the Department of National Defense. He has served as an associate instructor with the Ontario Fire College, holds many National Fire Protection Association chief officer accreditations and is past President of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs.
Fire and rescue services in Oakville are delivered by more than 200 full-time personnel. The Oakville Fire department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure the safety of Oakville residents and visitors. The Oakville Fire department operates from eight station locations as well as the Oakville Training Campus for Emergency Excellence.
